Amidst blue skies and warm November weather, Friends of St. Jude hosted its second annual “Saturday Shuck,” an oyster roast at Smith’s Steaks & Oysters in Crestline Park. Over 200 of Birmingham’s young professionals attended, networking for the cause of curing childhood cancer. Local singer-songwriter Jesse Payne played his latest music, while guests enjoyed roasted oysters, a low country bowl, and a variety of beer. Sponsored by Royal Cup, Birmingham Budweiser, Sam Adams, Back Forty Brewing Company, CBS 42, and Smith’s, the event raised $3,000 to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
