The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame gave away 10 trips to top sporting events to guests who made a contribution to the Hall of Fame. Trips included the British Open, the Kentucky Derby, the Masters, the 2009 World Series, a Pebble Beach Golf Trip, a Pheasant Hunting Trip, an Ultimate Sport Fishing Trip, the U.S. Open Tennis, the BCS National Championship, and the Daytona 500. The following night the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame inducted its 41st Class of sports legends. Additionally, over 50 former inductees were on hand to welcome them into the Hall of Fame. The 2009 Class included: Larry Blakeney, Steve Bolt, Tommy Brooker, Janelle Godfrey, Charley Hannah, Jimmy Key, Lee May, and John Mitchell. Also, Distinguished Alabama Sportsman Ronnie Bruno and Distinguished American Sportsman Nick Bollettieri. Head Coach of the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers, Mike Tomlin, was also in attendance to show support for Coach John Mitchell.
