ACB’s GALA 2011 combined high-flying aerial acrobatics, ballet and live music from Act of Congress. Patrons enjoyed complimentary wine and beer during the pre-show party, and then moved to the main stage for a dynamic aerial show and concert from Birmingham’s own Act of Congress. ACB closed the event with a standing ovation after Artistic Director Alison Page’s acclaimed ballet “Waiting Room.” This compelling reprise about inspiring hope for those whose lives have been changed by cancer was performed to the original score by Act of Congress and re-staged with spectacular, all-new aerial elements. The evening was sponsored by Michael J. and Mary Anne Freeman and presented in tribute to Leslie Hays Cummins, mother to ACB Artistic Director Alison Page. Partial proceeds from the evening were presented to the UAB Comphrehensive Cancer Center in tribute to Cummins.
