The Charity League of Birmingham celebrated its Golden Anniversary Nov. 8 at Vestavia Country Club. Current and former members reminisced about the 50 years of events benefiting the Hearing and Speech Impaired Children of Alabama. Planning the festivities were Renee Booker, Cherie Moody, Corinne Hinds, Sylvion Moss, Tyra Johnson-Pirtle, Sally Dunphy, Angie Simmons, Brandi Yaghmai, Christine Meehan, Sally McClanahan, Andrea Reiber, Barkley Lackey, Robyn Henderson, Marianne Brandon, Becky Crum, and Lynn Loyd. Since The Charity League’s formation in 1959 it has provided more than 170,000 volunteer hours and has raised in excess of $2 million.
